Baby W

It has been about 8 months since i've updated our blog... that's pretty bad. But a lot has happened, first and foremost baby W! This post WILL BE LONG. Here is the timeline of Baby Wozniak. Before we begin.... just look at that picture. The pigtails & the comb-over. Is it conceited to say that we were pretty freaking adorable? I can't wait to see what he looks like!

FINDING OUT

I know you all LOVE seeing pictures with peed-on pregnancy tests.... I was a total hater before we got pregnant. But that little stick changed our whole life with the words "pregnant". So I have to keep it, for posterity's sake. I don't have any other option.

Okay onto the story. We had no idea I was pregnant. We were about 3-4 weeks past ovulation when I started having weird things happen. There were 3 things that happened that made me think "Am I pregnant?"

1. My quest bars started tasting like metal
2. One side of my gums swelled up out of the blue
3. Weirdness going on in my stomach

After those three things happened I ran to Target and bought a few pregnancy tests. I ran home and with out even telling Corey what I was doing, I took the test. After jumping around for 2 minutes while the test was "thinking", the screen popped up -- PREGNANT, 3-4 WEEKS (meaning past ovulation.) I was stunned and shocked and happy and amazed and scared and pretty much all of the emotions that could possibly happen. I walked out to Corey, who was at the Kitchen table, and put the test in front of him and the first thing he said was, "Are you joking?", "Is that real?". We hugged and hugged and I think I cried a little and we were both stuck in a deer-in-headlights happiness for a little while. Once it sunk it, we just kept talking about how thrilled and excited we were to welcome a little baby into the world.

It's weird to see your body go through so many changes. I was certain right after we found out that I was already "showing" hahaha. Looking back, i'm like come on Chels. You were just a little anxious.

TELLING FAMILY

We originally planned on waiting until after our 1st doctor appointment to tell our family. But we couldn't hold it in! We were bursting at the seams. We were 6 weeks along and we decided we wanted to tell our family. So I made the little graphic below. We facetimed different members of the family and then told them we had a "hilarious" story to tell them and that we were sending them a picture to go along with the story.

Corey's Mom, Dad & brother Alex weren't very surprised. Since we don't FaceTime them very often (we usually just call) they were a little suspicious that we wanted to FaceTime. They were ecstatic though, since this would be their first grandbaby! My family was all very surprised though!! It took my mom a minute to figure out what we were telling her. But when she got it, she started crying. My sister Siri & her hubby were way excited, and she was crying too. TJ & Annaliese happened to FaceTime us right as we were about to FaceTime them! So it worked out perfectly, we saw their little baby girl and talked with them for a little while and then sent them the picture. They were really surprised too.

Corey's Dad & Fiancee (at the time), Yancy & Kristi, were so surprised and happy. Yancy said, "You're going to make me a Grandpa TWICE this year!????" (Corey's brother had a baby in May!)

Overall, the family was so surprised and happy. We felt lots of love and excitement!

1st DOCTOR APPOINTMENT

Our first Doctor appointment was on February 19th. We got a recommendation from my uncle, who's an anesthesiologist in LV, for a good doctor. That first appointment was exciting and pretty surreal. We were able to see the little tiny human in my belly and hear the strong heartbeat! It was amazing. We found out we were about 10 weeks along. I fell in love for a second time that day. My heart now belonged to two humans!

PREGNANCY HORMONES #1

One day, I was running late for work. I got to work, and parked in a covered spot. I ran into the office and made it just in time for a meeting. It was kind of a stressful day, not my favorite day ever. I hadn't had time to pack a lunch, so at lunch-time I had to go grab something. I made it to my car and noticed an old man waiting by my car. I asked him if he needed something and the dude started YELLING.

THIS IS MY PARKING SPOT
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD PARK HERE
CAN'T YOU READ? IT SAYS PARKING FOR BUILDING #133
YOU DON'T WORK IN THAT BUILDING
NEVER PARK IN THIS SPOT AGAIN

I was so mad. Mad is an understatement.

Excuse me sir? I'm sorry, I was in a hurry and didn't see the building requirements for this spot.
But disregarding that, you parked right next to my car, literally in the spot NEXT to me.
Did you have to walk a few extra steps to get into the office?

blah blah blah. He went on yelling and I got in my car, slammed the door and drove away.

The next Monday, I was still emotional and angry at this old man (mind you, he was physically capable. I didn't steal a parking spot from a decrepit old man.) So I wrote him the note below and put it on his car. I hope so badly it made him feel bad for yelling at a woman (a secretly pregnant, hormonally imbalanced woman.) #whatajerk #amiright

BABY ANNOUNCEMENT

I have an obsession with keeping/taking/sharing pictures. I'm such a visual person, so it's my way of recording memories. That being said, I was pretty stressed about how to visually announce our baby to the world. Corey told me multiple times that he wanted to "keep it simple". Hahaha. He knew that I tend to be a little extravagant. I found this cute marquee arrow at Michael's and I thought,

"What's more simple than Corey pointing an arrow at my uterus?"

I'm such a nice wife. So that's what we did. My uncle who also lives down here in Las Vegas, is fabulous with the camera, and he so generously agreed to take some baby announcement pictures for us. It was so fun and so exciting that we could ALMOST tell the world. We sent the pictures to close friends, most of our family already knew at this point, and then we posted to the social media world. The outpouring of love was amazing. Everyone was so ecstatic and happy for us. We felt SOOO much love. Thank you to all who shared in this happy news with us. And HUGE thank you to Doug Robison for these pictures, which I will treasure forever.

GENDER REVEAL

Corey and I were SOOOO anxious and excited to find out the gender of our sweet little baby. Corey kind of thought it was a girl, and I had weird reasons for thinking it was a little boy. We went to an external ultrasound place to find out the gender about 4 weeks before we could find out at the Doctor's office. (Waiting a whole month to find out!? Yeah right!)

When we got into the room and the ultrasound began, I instantly saw the 'goods' and said WAIT, DID I JUST SEE SOMETHING!? The ultrasound tech wasn't very happy that I saw before she could detect it, haha. Whoops! She told me to hold on. She kept searching and finally she got a good angle to show us what i'd already seen. Baby is a BOY!!!!! We were so excited. I had tears in my eyes and I just kept looking at Corey saying, we're having a boy!!! It's a boy!!! It was a super neat experience for us to sit there together in the dark room, holding hands, seeing our little guy up on the screen. He was pretty wiggly, and he kept one hand up by his face the entire time. Oh, and we saw him yawn. That made my heart burst. I never knew how cute a yawn could be until it was coming from the tiny little baby inside of me. <3

FAMILY GENDER REVEAL

Right after we left the ultrasound appointment, I uploaded the ultrasound pictures on my computer and sent copies to Costco to print. I went to Zurcher's and found some fun blue confetti and little decorations that said "It's a boy!" That night I spent way too many hours stuffing envelopes for our family with pictures, confetti, and individualized notes from Baby W, telling them that he is a BOY!
You can see in the pictures below what was contained in the envelopes our family received in the mail that week. By the way, our families had no idea we went and had this ultrasound done. They thought we were still waiting for the Dr. Appointment that was a month away. So we were able to surprise them when they opened these and blue confetti flew out. It was a VERY hard week keeping the gender to myself though, until their envelopes came in the mail. Their reactions were worth the wait though.

WORK GENDER REVEAL

We had a gender reveal at work to find out what Baby W was! I secretly told one of my coworkers when we found out, and she made darling cake pops and brought them into the office.
We all took a break and went outside and found out it was a BOY!! Most people in the office
thought it was a boy, so it was a lot of fun! Thanks to Isabel for these delicious cake pops!!

20 WEEKS + WEDDING TIME

We were able to celebrate hitting the halfway mark by heading down to California for Corey's Dad's wedding. With the help of my handy side-kick Corey, we photographed and video'd the whole thing. It was so much fun to see their gorgeous ceremony and hang out with the family. All of the family kept giving us well-wishes and rubbing my belly. We knew this baby would sure we loved by the Watson clan. (click the links above if you want to check out the photos/video!)

21 WEEKS

25 WEEKS + FAREWELL

Memorial day weekend we went down to California to say goodbye to Corey's little brother, Nick. Nick was called to serve his LDS mission in the Charleston, West Virginia mission and he gave his farewell talk at church. Corey & I are both pretty sad that Nick's going to be gone when Baby W arrives and for the first almost 2 years of his life. BUT, Baby is due on September 13, and Nick's birthday is on September 12, so maybe Baby W can give Uncle Nick a special birthday present and come on his birthday! We'll see. We love you Nick!

28 WEEKS + BIRTHDAY

Do you like our classy in front of garage pic? I thought you might. Also, we need to cave
and buy a selfie stick. For sure. Oh, and I married the best man who cleaned the entire apartment on my birthday. What a good guy!

30 WEEKS + BABY SHOWER #1

My Mom, Sister & Sister-in-Law planned a fabulous shower. They went ALL OUT. I'm not kidding you. My Mom hand-strung pinecones & pine tree branches and draped them all over our pergola. Oh and she used a power saw to make her own wooden circle decorations. She was literally sawing through logs. Hahaha. If you can't tell, my Mom is amazing.

My aunt Suzy made a darling banner that went with the outdoor theme. And the food was on point. These ladies really love me, can you tell? One more story to prove it. The night before my shower, the power went out at my Mom's house. So Siri & my mom put head lamps on and continued to make pin-wheel sandwiches for the shower the next day. They were literally making all of the food with only the light from a head lamp!! Then at close to 10 o'clock Annaliese drove up to my Mom's house and picked up the sandwiches so that she could refrigerate them at her house. Are they amazing or what?

Corey's brother & wife & cousin drove down from Idaho, and his Mom & GMA drove up from California to show us love at the shower. I was surrounded with all of our family and so many ladies from my home-ward. Seriously, so blessed.

31 WEEKS + BABY SHOWER #2

Baby W and I are SOOO SPOILED. We have the best friends. Huge shout out to Ashley, Haley & Kelsey for throwing me the perfect shower. I woke up at 3:30 AM on Saturday, July 11 and drove up to Draper. The shower was held at Haley's parents house. There was SO MUCH FOOD (every pregnant lady's dream) and I was able to see so many fun friends that I hadn't seen in so long. I was also able to see a dear friend Kelsie, who was 38 (?) weeks at the time. She has now had her ADORABLE baby... so it gives me hope! Pregnancy really does end and you really do get a precious baby. I'm just a little excited for that :)

PREGNANCY HORMONES #2

A couple of weeks ago, I came home and was about to pull our garbage cans in, AND THEY WERE GONE. Our nice, new, non-stinky garbage cans had been stolen. I was SO MAD x 1,000,000! I had a weird attachment to those garbage cans. I liked that I could open the garbage can and not want to die of the stench. So yeah, I was furious.

The next week, when garbage day came around, the second I got home from work I found our garbage cans in front of a neighbors house, I took them home where they belonged, and I painted them. Claiming what was rightfully ours. The paint helped to fend off the garbage can thieves for a few weeks... but then they stole our garbage cans, scratched off all of the paint and left us with their tiny, stinky, nasty garbage cans. Man, those people were desperate. I left them alone, knowing we would be moving the the apt. next door in a couple of weeks and inherit nicer garbage cans. But if they somehow steal our garbage cans again, the wrath of the pregnant lady will be upon them.

33 WEEKS + BABY SHOWER #3

My dear friend, Morgan, threw me the cutest camping/outdoorsy/nature themed shower (which is how we are decorating Baby W's nursery). Can you see all of these darling decorations that she made!? We felt so much love from the turnout. SO many ladies from the ward down here showed up. And the Watson's drove up from California, and my mom and sister drove down from Utah.

We ate delicious food, played games, opened gifts and talked. Thank you to all those who came for your generosity! & HUGE thank you to Morgan for single-handedly throwing me the cutest shower ever.

PREGNANCY BRAIN

Dish soap, instead of dishwasher detergent. Nuff said.

4D ULTRASOUND

He looks exactly like his Daddy here. Corey's little twin.

And he has his Mommy's cheeks! Maybe the tradition will
continue and we'll nickname him Cheeks ;)

CRAVINGS?

  • Cherries -- Pretty sure he's going to come out looking like a cherry. I've pounded down bags and bags.
  • Spaghetti O's
  • Hawaiian Pizza -- One Saturday, I told Corey I needed Hawaiian Pizza ASAP. So, I set out on a search to find some. I went to a pizza parlor down the street that claimed to be "better than all of the chain pizza shops". So I trusted them. I bought a ginormous pizza and took it home. I took the first bite and it was the grossest pizza I'd ever eaten. I told Corey how disappointed I was and I started crying. It took a few weeks to satisfy that craving, but we eventually found a pizza that did it. P.S. I have vowed to never go back to that pizza place. Never make a pregnant lady cry, we hold grudges!
  • Honeycomb -- I went to Smith's one night at like 9 to find a box of Honeycomb. That was the only things that sounded good. The sound of anything else made me want to puke. I find the cereal aisle and I walk up and down about 5x before it sinks in.... they are out of honeycomb. How dare they. Yes, I did start crying right there in the middle of the aisle. It was a pretty sad night.

All in all, this pregnancy has been awesome. Yes, my hips hurt, my mama stripes are coming in loud and proud, and sleeping is the worst thing ever. But i've been so blessed to carry this sweet, healthy child for 9 months. He already has us wrapped around his tiny little finger. Corey & I can't wait to welcome him into the world in a few short weeks. We love you Baby W!!!
